Buying or selling a yacht is a process that typically requires time, effort, and careful consideration
It involves numerous questions, negotiations, and important decisions, and sometimes even challenging situations or misunderstandings. To make this process smoother, more efficient, and more transparent for everyone involved, we have outlined a few key recommendations.
Initial contact and introduction
We recommend arranging the first contact in person, ideally during your stay at Marina Punat or somewhere in the Kvarner region. Although modern technology offers many communication options (phone, email, Google Meet, video calls), we still value face-to-face meetings. Personal contact allows for better understanding, trust, and non-verbal communication, which is extremely important in our line of work.
We like to get to know our clients, remember their faces and voices. Our clients are not numbers – they are real people.
Preparing for the first meeting
For the initial meeting, we recommend preparing basic information and documentation about the yacht.
- Sellers should bring records related to maintenance, repairs, and any investments made in the yacht.
- Buyers should consider in advance the type of vessel (sailing yacht, motor yacht, catamaran, RIB, jet ski), approximate size, age, and budget.
Sellers should openly disclose any known defects or major repairs (e.g. osmosis treatment, repairs after damage, engine overhaul requirements, battery replacement).
Concealing defects can lead to costly legal disputes and even criminal liability for fraud. Such an approach is completely contrary to our long-standing, ethical business practice.
Agreement and cooperation
Once a cooperation agreement is reached, we will require a signed power of attorney for the vessel and the keys. We advise buyers not to spend their entire budget on the purchase alone, as additional maintenance and ownership costs follow after acquisition. The more clearly you communicate your expectations and preferences, the more precisely we can tailor our service and increase your overall satisfaction.
We are always happy to share our knowledge, experience, and honest advice.
Types of cooperation
Our cooperation is available in two main formats:
- Exclusive brokerage agreement – offers a lower brokerage fee for the seller, a free condition report, wider marketing exposure, and additional benefits.
- Standard brokerage agreement – standard form of cooperation without additional benefits.
All features of both models will be clearly explained, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your needs.
